"What Do You Want to Be When You Grow Up?" - A Journey to the Film Industry

For me, the answer was not a simple one. I wanted to be everyone. Influenced by movie characters, I would find myself behaving in a certain way, calling myself a princess of the lost jungle, a saver of the tribe, or a police officer. As my desires changed, there was always something in common - my love for embodying different characters.

The story of Maya graduate Roshany

As children, we often dream of becoming many things - doctors, police officers, princesses, or superheroes. We imagine ourselves in different roles, playing different characters, and living different lives. But as we grow up, we face the daunting question - what do you want to be when you grow up?

For me, the answer was not a simple one. I wanted to be everyone. Influenced by movie characters, I would find myself behaving in a certain way, calling myself a princess of the lost jungle, a saver of the tribe, or a police officer. As my desires changed, there was always something in common - my love for embodying different characters.

Moving from Maya to Kathmandu, I embarked on a new chapter in my life. With big dreams and endless possibilities, I knew I had to find a way to become everyone I wanted to be. That's when I discovered my true calling - the film industry.

Joining the Kantipur Film Academy was a new beginning for me. Surrounded by talented people with great ambition, I felt inspired to give something new to the film industry. However, I soon realized that acting was not an easy profession. Learning the lines was just the beginning; I had to work on the emotions, understand the characters, and live their truth to create a convincing performance.

One of the most challenging scenes we worked on was the fight scene from "Marriage Story," starring Scarlett Johansson and Adam Driver. I knew the lines in 25 minutes, but to portray the emotions authentically was a real struggle. I even punched a wall once in the class out of frustration. I poured my heart and soul into every character I played and cried every time I worked on building a stronger one.

Becoming an actor is not easy, and there is so much to learn before being recognized. I have been sharpening my skills and honing my craft to become the best version of myself. I aspire to leave behind something great for the film industry that I am devoted to.

So, to answer the question "what do you want to be when you grow up?" - I want to be everyone and anyone, to play different characters, and to live different lives. I want to be an actor, and I am working hard to make my dreams come true.

In conclusion, we should never give up on our dreams and aspirations, no matter how challenging they may seem. With hard work, dedication, and passion, we can achieve our goals and make a positive impact in the world.
